Airfix was founded by Nicholas Kove in 1939 in England, UK. After 2006 it became just a brand name. Airfix was knwon for its plastic aircraft model kits but these didn't appear until the 1950s. Almost all of their output was historical or 20th century but they did produce a Space Warriors set in the early 1980s around the time of their initial bankruptcy. In 1981 the company was bought by Palitoy, and then by Humbrol in 1986. In 2006 Humbrol and Airfix were acquired by Hornby.
