Biography
Bob Maurus had a site at www.bobmaurus.com which has gone defunct. Some of the content can still be via the Wayback Machine here. A few quotes about his history as a sculptor taken from that site:
- "By the early 80's the fantasy game Dungeons and Dragons was the rage. Bob sculpted for Broadsword Miniatures, Gallo Pewter and TSR and also did illustrations for Dragon Magazine. Along the way he has also done pewter and sterling jewelery, produced his own line of Celtic and Viking "artifactures", and gone off on lateral tangents - published author, newspaper columnist and half of the infamous Irish folk singing duo of Gilhooley and Schwartz." [1]
- "I’ve been primarily a sculptor for something like 25 years. Did D&D figures for a small company here in Atlanta called Broadsword Miniatures and then was at TSR for a while; I sculpted for Gallo Pewter for 12 or 15 years, and SIAB for several; I’ve done steins and goblets for M. Cornell Importers; a full line of Scottish clan badges and kilt pins; jewelry and medallion commissions; book illustration. I’m now doing boxes and figures with 4C Collectibles and continuing to do pieces for my own proprietary line." [1]
