From Lost Minis Wiki
Games Workshop was founded in London in 1975 by John Peake, Ian Livingstone & Steve Jackson originally producing wooden boards for traditional games and then importing Dungeons & Dragons into the UK. They went on to publish White Dwarf magazine and opened their first game shop 1978. In 1979 they helped establish Citadel Miniatures and later several other companies and brands came under their wing: Chronicle, Marauder Miniatures and Iron Claw. Their influence grew exponentially in the late 1980s with the release of Warhammer branded games and the rapid increase in the number of Games Workshop shops.
