Epicast USA, LLC was run by Nick & Jana Tompkins. Originally formed under a limited copyright agreement with Games Workshop(GW), Epicast produced 28mm scale versions of Games Workshop epic scale vehicles for use with Warhammer 40K. The first model they produced was the Eldar Falcon, followed by the Ork Gobsmasha, A Rhino Whirlwind/Vindicator kit, the Imperial Termite and other vehicles. The copyright agreement with GW ended in 1998 shortly before Forgeworld UK went into production and started producing resin models. After the end of their copyright with GW Epicast produced several ranges of resin and expanded hard foam buildings, scenery items and resin bases as well as non GW copyrighted vehicles. They had a printed catalog at one point.
In 2005 Nick wrote a summary of Warhammer related resin casting in the US called ”The Lost and the Banned”. [3]
As of June 2021 Troll Soup have the license to produce some of the Epicast miniatures (those not covered by the Games Workshop copyright).
