Legions of the Petal Throne

The Legions of the Petal Throne line was originally created in 1976 by The Old Guard with sculpts by William Murray [2]. The miniatures were based on Prof. M.A.R. Barker's designs for his role playing game Empire of the Petal Throne (set in the fictional World of Tékumel). M.A.R. Barker published an article on how the miniatures should be painted in Dragon Magazine (1977).[5] Ral Partha picked it up (along with the moulds) in the spring of 1978 and later, some additional sculpts were added by Tom Meier and Brian Apple. It was discontinued by Ral Partha in 1979, but picked up by PHD Games. It is possibly, even likely, that PHD Games altered some of the figures so that they were molded with weapons, rather than having to utilize wire shafts. Around 2006 Eureka Miniatures produced a similar line of miniatures called Empire of the Petal Throne.
Note: Ral Partha later used a "06-xxx" product code for these figures.
