Mike's Models Ltd began in the late 70's as a partnership between Dave Mason and Mike Burton. Mike (of the title) sculpted all the initial ranges. Other sculptors were later brought on board. On 2nd August 1979 they became incorporated (now dissolved). Their ranges were produced under license in US (Jay Stone) and in NZ. The company was formerly owned by David Mason [1]. Essex Miniatures bought the 15mm figures from them in 1985.

Trivia
Anecdotes from Oliver Gilkes (former employee):
- "It was a company run by a bunch of young blokes, some of their girlfriends and a couple of 'adults' . Great weekend nights out, probably too much alcohol, and many trips to trade shows. Salute in London, Northern Militaire in Salford, the Reading show (including meeting Donald Featherstone, a coup)."
- "Employees were titled 'operatives' and were varied. Some were re-enactors, others were dodgy, one went on to become a very senior British architect another something important in the Foreign Office."
- "Lead bismuth alloy ingots were delivered regularly to Queens road and slid down a chute into the basement premises. I recall that the metal merchants rep was known as metal mickey by all and sundry."
