Talk:Call of Cthulhu (RAFM)

I thought all the RAFM Call of Cthulhu figures were sculpted by Bob Murch, whose brainchild the line was. What contributions did Gael Goumon make there??? How I wish ALL manufacturers would give sculptor credits! [Rant] To not do so reeks of covetous theft and extortion; for any sculptor to not insist on that credit for his/her own esteem and rightful pride smacks of prostitution. Artists deserve fair payment, and permanent credit for intellectual sweat is part of that payment(Creativity by design is more difficult and rarer than mere socially-revered logic). I've a mind to call RAFM (and others) on that.[/rant]--Mysticat 09:04, 17 November 2010 (MST)

Just stumbled upon this old comment. Looks like Goumon sculpted the newer version of the Night Gaunt. See here:

And here (where RAFM does in fact credit him):

As far as I know, Murch did sculpt all of the original RAFM CoC figures. It is the more recent additions to the range that were done by others. The fact that they took advantage of the holes in the numbering of the original range and put the newer figures in those slots (rather than appending them to the end) is a bit annoying since it isn't obvious which ones are newer. I didn't make a complete survey, but I note that the RAFM site credits Simon Fraser for 2919 Tentacle man.

Two packs were offered once consisting of accessory pieces and bits, like the Anaconda, small Leng Spider, Olmec head, etc. I cannot find them listed in the catalogs.Stephengroy 15:35, 8 August 2010 (MST)

There were some more packs in the Specials bucket:
2992 Artic Dog Sled with Handlers
2993 Artic Dog Sled Only
2994 Assorted Adventurers
2995 Jersey Barriers
2996 Driver Set

I think that all of these (except maybe the Jersey Barriers) were repackaging of parts from the other sets. - Thegrouch 00:36, 13 August 2010 (MST)

From Mysticat:
I don't know about the accessory packs you speak of, Stephengroy, but maybe you can figure it out from the following listing of product codes that are not on the Article page. Thegrouch, you are correct on the other packs you have product codes for: the first two are from the M.U. Antarctic Expedition, the Assorted Adventurers are a mixed bag from the M.U. Expeditions of Egypt and Amazon, and the Driver Set I've already got on the article page (though for non-repetitive purposes, they are slightly out of order and you may not have seen them). I hadn't gotten to the OOP figs yet.

RAF02000-4 unused/out of production (most likely OOP fantasy)
RAF02005-10 fantasy figs
RAF02013-16 Used for or Reserved for dragons
RAF02017-29 unused/out of production
RAF02031+ unused (probably reserved for future boxed sets)/out of production
RAF02961-9 unused (probably reserved for future Monsters)/out of production
RAF02975-80 unused (probably reserved for future M.U. Expeditions)/out of production
RAF02983-89 unused (probably reserved for future Monsters/M.U. Expeditions)/out of production
RAF02992 Artic Dog Sled with Handlers (OOP - not on RAFM's site anymore)
RAF02993 Artic Dog Sled Only (OOP - not on RAFM's site anymore)
RAF02994 Assorted Adventurers (OOP - not on RAFM's site anymore)
RAF02995 Jersey Barriers (OOP - not on RAFM's site anymore)
RAF02997+ unused (probably reserved for future drivers)/out of production
RAF03890 Ghoul Scribe (I've cross-referenced with RAF02953b Warlock)
RAF03891 Ghoul Crawling from Crypt (I've cross-referenced with RAF02955 Ghoul and Crypt)
RAF03892 Ghoul with Club (I've cross-referenced with RAF02954)
RAF03893 Ghoul with Sword (I've cross-referenced with RAF02954)
RAF03894 Ghoul with Axe (I've cross-referenced with RAF02954)
RAF03895 + Goes into Fantasy Line
RAF04580 Coffins (beginning of the Fantasy Scenics section on RAFM)
RAF04581 Wizard's Laboratory
RAF04582 Bone
RAF04583 Death Columns (I've cross-referenced with RAF02925b Death Column)
RAF04584 Summoning Stones (I've tentatively cross-referenced with RAF02920b Pentacle)
RAF04585 Gates
RAF04586 Mad Scientists Lab (I've cross-referenced all pieces with RAF02914 Sinister Scientists)
RAF04587 Torture Chamber (The victim looks like RAF02952b Naked Worshipper, but I'm not sure)
RAF04600's seem unused
RAF04588+ unused until Reptiliad picks up at RAF04602 (probably reserved for future scenery elements)/out of production

Just thought you'd like to see where the codes not represented on the article page go to, so we can be sure we have all the OOP products. I'll be making up the Fantasy Scenics page soon, with all the cross-references. At this point, I don't remember if I put the CoC info on the Fantasy Ghouls section, but stating it now will serve to remind me. ~Mysticat Mysticat 09:03, 13 August 2010 (MST)

Okay, I've put in the code for these OOP sets so that they automatically fill when the other pics fill, and I've added the Jersey barriers. RAF02992 Artic Dog Sled with Handlers (OOP - not on RAFM's site anymore) RAF02993 Artic Dog Sled Only (OOP - not on RAFM's site anymore) RAF02994 Assorted Adventurers (OOP - not on RAFM's site anymore) ~Mysticat Mysticat 10:21, 13 August 2010 (MST)

Also, FWIW, I don't think I would bother with the RAF prefix on the front of all the product codes. These seem to be an artifact of RAFM's current webstore rather than proper product codes that distinguish between different things. In my experience the catalogs and blister packs simply use the numeric codes, granted I don't think I've seen a RAFM catalog later than the mid 90's. There is only one prefix in play as far as I know 'RAF' which would just indicate RAFM, as opposed to say similar prefixes you might find in other companies lineups where the prefix might specify different ranges. The situation seems pretty similar to how dealer catalogs would prefix all Grenadier product codes with GRN (for example), but you wouldn't otherwise use those embellished codes. - Thegrouch 18:52, 13 August 2010 (MST)
