Here is Mysticat's solicitation message (made to just fit in the eBay PM window). Feel free to modify or borrow, (but keep records of what you send and receive):

"I'd like your permission...

The Lost Minis Wiki needs unpainted minis pics and you can help.

This fast-growing reference is a great boon to sellers looking to properly identify their figures, but we still need pics to fill in the galleries.

We can snag enlarged screenshots from your site, so there will be no need for you to bother sending us files unless you prefer to. We may need to remove the background or scratches. If another model comes into your hands for sale, you may find your photo easily on the Lost Minis site:

Find your fig fast with our new Topical Galleries: http://recipesrealm.com/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Topical_Galleries
Please let me know if we have your permission to post your photos on the Wiki and how you'd like to be credited.

Thanks for considering.

xxxxxxxx (Lost Minis nick)"

RE: NEGOTIATIONS:

Miniature-GIANT.com tells me the photos are M-G touched up Reaper photos and that they have permission to use them, and feel comfortable transferring this permission to us. Their photos are higher res than what is on the Reaper site, too, and this is why I asked them. I am in the process of getting Reaper's permissions also, just to be safe. ~ Mysticat 15:10, 19 August 2010 (MST)

RE: SNAGGING PHOTOS:

P.S. I don't understand the comment about ebay not allowing you to save photos. I've never had a problem with that (right click for context menu, save picture as), and the screen snapshot + postprocessing route seems rather akward. Thegrouch 21:17, 28 July 2010 (MST)

PrtScr button is the only way available to me too, but I don't find it awkward, maybe even a little quicker since you paste the image direct to your editor, there's no need to open it from a saved file location and only save the file once you've finished editing it. I assumed it was the same for all eBay users, but maybe it's region specific, I'm using eBay UK. Colin

I use a little jewel of an app called Gadwin Printscreen, which allows me to autoname (with the credit) batches of mouse-defined crops on the fly, right off the screen to a "Lost Minis Wiki Pics" folder. So I just ran right across Mirliton and snagged all their Nightmares individual fig pics from their enlarged group pics. Minimal editing later at all, except to overwrite with background, any bleeds of other figs coming into the photo. Notice how quickly all the Nightmares and Call of Cthulhu pics were posted? Thank Gadwin for that - no resizing or cropping necessary. The other nice thing is that I can snag a pic on eBay while it's still there, (from a vendor who's given me permissions) twice: once with the auction ID info and the second for the enlargment. This allows me to delay posting here until I have time to do a whole batch. On another note, several of the vendors are sending me zipped collections, and one has so many, I'm awaiting a CD. Good thing I'm "retired"... Wonder which will give out first... my carpel tunnel wrist from the posting or my eyesight from the painting? :S :D Many vendors on eBay use an image-protection host for their photos. Others host their own and may not be protected, so you can copy those (whether illegally or legally) BTW... how does one indent paragraphs in here without the code getting screwy? ~ Mysticat

RE: FORUM

There is a phpBB2 forum already set up on this domain, it was here before I changed the site to LMW, would it be helpful to get it up and running again? phpBB2 is a pretty good forum software, we could easily shape it to the wikis needs, then all our discussions will be in one forum rather than scattered over multiple pages within the wiki. Colin

I did find it a bit confusing in the beginning to know where to reply to. I think an Editor's forum, not privy to public view would be a boon - not so much for secrecy, but for not clutter up our User pages, making a more permanent and topic-sorted record. I would prefer a forum where we plebes can only edit our own posts.--Mysticat 11:14, 3 November 2010 (MST)

Sorry I didn't notice your reply and that's one of the main reasons I'd like a forum in place, difficult to keep track of everything here... So I'll set the forum up, there are a few things that need to be sorted out to make it look right and time is something I'm always short of, so it may take a few weeks. Once it's set up I'll invite the members to join and then I'll take any suggestions for customising it to our needs. Colin

It's okay... I'm sorry I didn't see your original query until today to reply to it!  :D--Mysticat 13:34, 3 November 2010 (MST)

RE: MEMBERSHIP

On another note, I think it would be a good idea for management to reserve the right to lock out any member that hasn't added to the wiki in the past x months. Nobody should be allowed the power to remove content if they don't also add it. This rule would also encourage members to not forget their nicks and passwords and make up new replacement ones. --Mysticat 11:14, 3 November 2010 (MST)
