Talk:Reference - TTG to Metal Magic
I created this table inspired by a comment-chain from User:Mysticat on the Talk page for the Arabian Nights article. In that article the product codes from the Mega Miniatures version of the range had been added alongside the original Metal Magic codes *on the Metal Magic page*. This seemed wrong to me. The codes for Mega Miniatures should be on the Mega Miniatures pages somewhere. As it stands, if a few more companies produce Metal Magic figures we would be adding all their codes onto the Metal Magic page and seriously cluttering it up. What is needed (as suggested on the talk page) is a cross-reference table. I'm trying this out here with Tabletop Games and Metal Magic to see if it is a sensible approach - if it is I will de-clutter the Metal Magic pages of Mega Miniatures codes and create a similar cross-reference table on the Mega Miniatures pages.--Cattwister 16:42, 7 May 2014 (BST)
However, a better reason for this table in the case of TTG and the early Metal Magic Fantasy range is that it provides a place to record the original Metal Magic figure names (in German) linked to an official English translation for these early figures. 'Official' because TTG were licensed to distribute under these names by Hobby Products. The original figure names in German are not recorded on our Metal Magic page - perhaps they should be somewhere in a table? However, since this wiki is an English language wiki, the English range and figure name is to be preferred, I guess? The 1986 and 1987 catalogs where these miniatures appear are only in German (and French for 1987). Mega Miniatures also produced the Metal Magic range with English translations but that was for the later series of figures not this early one.--Cattwister 16:42, 7 May 2014 (BST)
I should also note that I am not certain of the a/b/c/d/e ordering within the Metal Magic ranges - these are how User:Viruz had them but in the 1986 and 1987 catalogs there is no such ordering. The a/b/c/d/e ordering was used in the later series that replaced this one.--Cattwister 16:42, 7 May 2014 (BST)
