-Cattwister, I'd like to get a user page where I could put pictures of unknown miniatures that are in my possession, possibly for help in identifying them. I can edit that page all day but when I hit "Submit" it seems to hang and never comes back. I've saved my work in a text file locally but wonder what I'm doing wrong. Or, does my "user page" need to be reviewed and approved before it goes up? Thanks for the info.
-:: Ah, the infamous "white page" problem when you submit changes... ? :-D You probably have single quotes or double quotes somewhere near a logical operator like "and" or "or". In certain situations (I believe) the mediawiki parser goes a bit crazy and tries to *execute* your text as code and falls over. Your only recourse is to try and identify the offending section and reword it. Try pasting half of your page and saving it and if that works then the problem is in the other half.... However! If you cause the white page problem too often in a 5 minute slot then some security aspect of the wiki kicks in and you will be temporarily put in a "sin-bin" for a while. A few hours later and you will be okay again... this was very alarming when it happened to me the first time. I expected the wiki-police to be knocking on my door. :-D I would also encourage you to use the subreddit for unknown galleries of figures. Get yourself a free image gallery somewhere like Flikr or imgur and post a link to that gallery on your user page and on the subreddit. Hope this helps! - Cattwister 22:45, 25 September 2019 (UTC)

-Cattwister, For some reason, I can't seem to get into the subreddit. It asks me to login and never lets me. But, I'll try to eliminate any single or double quotes and see if that works. Thanks for all the information!

-EDIT: That didn't seem to work. Hmm. I did get it to work with simple stuff so I'm going to just gradually put stuff in until I find what broke it. :)
-
-EDIT2: I found that putting a "<break>" inside of (c) 83) like (c) <break> 83) causes it to fail. All is good with the world, now. :) What's funny is that it works sometimes but not others. *shrug*
-:: Yes, there will be more than one way to break the parser. btw: I would use the html entity for the copyright symbol - © i.e. © - instead of "(c)". And re: the subreddit - you have setup a reddit account? It is not the same username and password as the wiki. (just checking) - Cattwister 09:04, 26 September 2019 (UTC)

-Cattwister, It took me a few tries to figure out the © but I finally got it. The semicolon seems of the utmost importance. Yes, I'm still learning some of this. Thanks for the help!

-Hi, I've deleted the images from your user page as requested. But I've also added 2 of them back in on the correct pages as we do need their images. Re: use of catalog images (you added a Lancer and Laser one): unless permitted to do so we cannot upload catalog images as we don't own the copyright. It seems silly, I know, as these are advertising materials and quite old but even so we shouldn't do that. Yes, there are catalog images on the site but they were all added very early on... and they are liable to take-down requests (extremely unlikely to happen but within the rights of the copyright holder). I think I added a couple waaaay back when before I was pulled up about it. - Cattwister 20:38, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

-Cattwister, okay. Got it on the catalog images. Many of the miniatures images in my database came from the catalogs (if easily accessed), or were scanned or photographed. I'll try to photograph any figures and packs that I can to post those instead. I tried to put any that I have where they belong, when I see where they belong. All good, if you needed the images, even though they aren't always high quality. If you needed any of them split (I put multiple angles in 1 photo) I can post those in the right place. Thanks, again! - Geoharpst 21:40, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

-Hi, I've added a "Declined" list for when an eBay user decides not to let us use their images - this should stop us duplicating effort / spamming eBay users. Please check and help to maintain this list if you are contacting eBay sellers. :-D - Cattwister 10:14, 2 October 2019 (UTC)

-Cattwister, I was about to suggest such a list after an eBay person declined and said that they had already been contacted by you. Sorry for the problem it caused. They had good quality photos, though. - Geoharpst 20:49, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I've got a message to pass on from someone you contacted on eBay (all good). Um, sure I can email you. Any idea who it was that I contacted? There have been a few because when I'm on eBay, if I see a good photo of minis that aren't shown here, I shoot out an email (after checking the list of current contributors). I did run into "sportstergrrl" on eBay, who is Dori and already on this (Chickaboom) as an editor. By the way, NobleKnightGames is a "No" also. They said that their photos are manufacturer's stock photos but many of their photos on eBay aren't. Still, they should be on the "Denied" list. Um, sure I can email you.
