About the Range
Midgard Fantasy was a licensed range of figures produced by Hobby Products to support the 'Midgard Fantasy Roleplaying Game' which was published by "Verlag für F&SF-Spiele" (VFSF) in Germany in 1981. It "was both the first German role-playing game, and the first [RPG] in the German language in general" - see History of Midgard (in German). VFSF also produced the RPGs 'Midgard 1880' (Victorian alternate history) and 'Perry Rhodan' (Sci-Fi). Hobby Products were producing the Midgard Fantasy range in 1985 until (probably) 1990/91 but the only catalog that some of the figures appeared in was the 1987 catalog (these are all the 'M' series sets - the 'C' series sets are known from Hobby Products' Price Lists). The Midgard range of figures are not well documented and in particular there appears to be some overlap and confusion between sets 'M1103' and 'C1104'.
Hobby Products also produced a range of Sci-Fi figures for VFSF's Perry Rhodan game. This sci-fi series was listed in the 1990 catalog but is missing from the 1992 catalog indicating that the relationship between VFSF and Hobby Products was finally over by then.
