About this Page
This page is intended to gather in one place all of the different shields and shield transfers that Citadel / Games Workshop produced over the years. In the move towards multi-part figures with increased variation, the shield was one of the first pieces of a model to be cast separately. Initially these were in metal but in the late 1980s plastic sprues of shields with a variety of designs appeared. (Please see the Discussion page for a gallery of possible candidate Citadel shields.)
Plastic Shields with Holes
- These shields can be seen in the 1988 Catalogue Part 1 but are probably earlier than this.
- B1 and C2 sprues have been seen with and without their identifying "B1"/"C2" tabs.
- C1 sprue assumed to be this: not yet seen with the "C1" tab.
- E sprue was redesigned to add a pattern variant to shield d.
- The round shields have three sizes: Sprues C1 & C2 are small, Sprue D is medium, Sprue E is Large.
