For statuary that moves with evil intent, see Gargoyles in [[Devils & Demons]]. It is presumed here that these guardian statues, though ugly, serve Heaven rather than Hell, by warning people to be good and by warding evil away from churches.  Non-winged grotesques would be found in the [[Devils & Demons]] catch-all Demons category.

Search Keywords (Done):Angel, Saint, Cherubim, Seraphim, Cherub.

Search Keywords (Pending):Jesus, St., Ste., Martyr.

Cautions: The collection is sorted not by name, but by unpainted visual appearance. Some of these figures will be grouped by functional or symbolic objects. Since this collection may exceed the page length limit, links will be provided for each category as they become overlarge. Also, the collection cannot be expected to be kept up to date, as it is not the main purpose of this wiki to indulge the viewer with these special galleries; hence, a proper search should ensue if your figure cannot be quickly identified from this gallery.

To find the identity of the figure: Simply click on the thumbnail, then, on the page with the pic, scroll down to see what links to that pic and follow the links.

Editors: Please observe the rules and requests at the top of the edit page.

Sculptors: Take note what categories seem neglected!

Collectors: Enjoy the eye candy!

Angels & Archangels - graceful, bird-winged humanoids

For ungraceful, warlike bird-winged humanoids, see birdmen/hawkmen in Half-Humans. For Fallen Angels, Death Angels and other Angels of Hell, see Devils & Demons, Fallen Angels category.

Archangels

Only one is named in the Bible: Michael. Other candidate names to make up the compliment of seven total are (depending on branch of Chrisitanity): Gabriel (generally agreed upon), Raphael (generally agreed upon), Uriel(or Anael)(generally agreed upon), Ananiel, Aniel, Barachiel, Cecitiel, Jegudiel, Marmoniel, Oriel, Oriphiel, Raguel, Remiel (also described as a fallen angel, along with Satan), Sarathiel, Sealtiel (or Metatron), Selaphiel, Simiel (or Samael), Suriel, Zachariel, and Zadakiel.

Cherubim - 4 conjoined wings w. eyes, ox-feet, 4 faces: man, ox, ion, and eagle

Not to be confused with the putti (see below).

Seraphim - fiery-lighted w. 6 wings: 4 to cover face and body and 2 to fly

Two named: Seraphiel (w. head of an eagle - see also Griffons in [[]]) and Metatron.

Principalities - angels w. crowns & sceptres

Dominions - angels w. orbed sceptres or orb-pommeled swords

Ophanim - wheel-within-a-wheel w. rims covered in hundreds of eyes

Angel Host (angels not already described, but not including Putti below)

Putti (sing. putto): "Cupids" - bird-winged babes secularly associated with Heaven

These are the layman's "cherubs," not to be confused with the Cherubim. This may be relocated to Half-Humans for their closer connection to Eros/Cupid of Greek and Roman mythologies.

Grotesques - like Gargoyles, winged, w/o weapons, static poses (crouch/sit)

For statuary that moves with evil intent, see Gargoyles. It is presumed that the Grotesques here are guardian statues, that, though ugly, serve Heaven rather than Hell, by warning people to be good and by warding evil away from churches. Non-winged grotesques would be found by scanning the Devils & Demons category for suitable figures.

Saints - haloed humans, Jesus

We include Jesus here as at the least a saintly man, regardless of anyone's religion.
